About
Josh Olejarz specializes in turning ideas and research into books and articles that reach the right audience for maximum impact. As a freelance editor, copy editor, and ghostwriter, he’s worked with clients including Harvard Business Review, Harvard Business Review Press, Think at London Business School, The New Republic, O’Reilly Media, Moon & Company, and thought leaders in a range of industries and disciplines.
Previously Josh spent six years as an editor and copy editor at Harvard Business Review, where he helped authors develop and refine their ideas, wrote for the magazine and HBR.org, and thought a lot about how readers experience different kinds of content. Now he works on books, articles, white papers — any kind of text whose impact depends on being clear and compelling.
His philosophy of good writing is that it shouldn’t be taken for granted. Even if you’re an established author, and even if you’re writing for a prestigious publication, people are doing you a favor by reading your work. So do them the favor of making it as good as possible. (If you agree, consider hiring Josh to work on your next project.)
Before joining HBR, Josh earned a master’s degree in film studies from UCLA, which he mostly used to sneak movie references into business articles. (Check out his monthly movies newsletter.) Josh’s first novel, The Cargo, came into the world in 2016; he’s very slowly writing the sequel.
